The Radisson Blu, Doha has a bunch of restaurants to eat at. Tonight we are trying the surf n’ turf at Bentley’s Grill, an opulent steakhouse known for their steaks including Australian wagyu.
The Doha food scene has changed dramatically during the last 20 years, a lot like back in the day in London. Remember those days when the Beefeater steakhouse was the place to go for a steak?
Wagyu at the Radisson Blu, Doha
The friendly staff show us our table and we admire the fresh white linen and pretty silverware. With sumptuous brown leather armchairs and chandeliers, isn’t it lovely eating dinner by candlelight?
The menu reads really well and we pick out a few things to order. With the order placed, oven-hot bread rolls are served which we spread with butter. Complimentary nibbles are sadly something that so many high-end restaurants have abandoned in the new era of restaurant hospitality.
Amuse bouche, goat cheese and spinach salad to start
We opt for a goat cheese and spinach salad to share from the choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters. We are served an amuse bouche of watermelon surrounded by a Carpaccio of beef to cleanse the palate, which is yet another nice and simple touch now long abandoned by so many fine dining establishments. Our goat cheese starter has a lovely creamy texture and beautiful mature flavour. Walnuts and onions provide crunch with the dressing complementing the spinach perfectly.
Wagyu beef for me, miso cod for him
The Radisson Blu Bentley’s Grill is a steakhouse with an ample choice of premium steaks available, from Australian wagyu, US Angus beef, tenderloins, tomahawks to fillet mignons and rib eyes. I opt for a main course of wagyu beef tips and mashed potatoes. The wagyu beef tips are tender, well seasoned with a rich gravy. The potato mash is creamy and light with just enough vegetables to make this a perfect comfort dish. This is a hearty portion and requires no further sides.
Hubby’s miso cod is a buttery sweet-savory fish dish with a side of al dente seasonal vegetables that is a delight for the eyes and palate. The addition of a side of baked potato served with sour cream, complete this delightful fish dish.
A surprise treat for dessert
Feeling very satisfied with our meal so far we elect not to indulge in dessert. However, to our surprise Bentley’s has yet another flourish that used to be the norm in days gone by. A complimentary shot of frozen berries in hot white chocolate sauce together with handcrafted chocolates to finish this meal off nicely.
Radisson Blue Bentley’s Grill hits the spot for ambience, opulence, and a lovely dining experience on this visit. The little complimentary touches make this a restaurant we will want to revisit.
