Friday in Qatar is the start of the weekend, which means time to enjoy a lazy brunch. With that in mind, a Peckish Londoner heads for the intriguingly named Scottish Friday Brunch.
Scottish Friday Brunch at the Olive Oil Restaurant is all about celebrating Burns night
The Olive Oil Restaurant is one of six restaurants located in the City Center Rotana Hotel, Doha. In addition to it’s grand chandeliers, the hotel’s cavernous wood panelled marble interior make it invitingly full of promise.
It’s all about haggis, scotch eggs, hunks of meat and fish & chips
Doha has a long history of expats from Scotland, looking forward to Burns night at the weekend, during which the Olive Oil Restaurant is celebrating the occasion by a Scottish Friday Brunch. The themed menu includes haggis, scotch eggs, lovely scotch pie with the most buttery thin short pastry, mini fish and chips, mince in a rich sauce and tatties, Scottish salmon, cauliflower cheese, and the biggest leg of roast beef that I have ever seen!!
But there’s more – oysters, tiger prawns, and sushi
As it happens, all the brunch favorites are at this Scottish Friday brunch, in addition to a bottomless smorgasbord of oysters, sushi, chargrilled to perfection tiger prawns and sand lobsters.
There’s a whole lotta dim sum too
Moreover, once you’ve munched your way through the Scottish favorites, more temptations await such as prawn and chicken dim sum, plum sauce sweet succulent crispy duck pancakes, a whole variety of salads, soups, cold meats and cheese!
Finally dessert at Scottish Friday Brunch in Doha!
Our meal so far has been a divine brunch experience with just enough space left for something sweet. Right in time to nab one(!) we manage to discover some beautifully light, simply sweet, sticky toffee pudding hidden amongst all the desserts! Delectable and polished off very nicely!
In any case, this brunch of course, has a whole plethora of desserts for us to choose from. What more could we want.
We’ve had a very satisfying brunch today with a selection of different foods bringing a small slice of Britain to Doha!
