More than three months since the COVID-19 lockdown in Doha, a handful of hotel restaurants opened in July for dine-in. One of these is the Belgian cafe where I get a chance to try some of the Best Beef Short Ribs in Doha.
The Belgian Cafe is one of three restaurants that you can dine in at the Intercontinental hotel the beach, from their large stable of restaurants.
Where are the best Beef Short Ribs in Doha?
Belgian Cafe, at the Intercontinental hotel the beach, does one of the best Beef Short Ribs in Doha, that I have had the pleasure to indulge.
But what about social distancing and safety in the era of new normal dining? With this in mind, Belgian Cafe’s restaurant certainly has a large space for the new COVID-19 requirements operating a reduced capacity. Which means that diners have to book in advance as the restaurant accommodates fewer diners with a two hour slot for their meal and drinks.
In the first instance, entrance to the hotel and Belgian Cafe restaurant requires that we show our EHTERAZ App with staff taking our temperature. Furthermore, staff at the restaurant take our Qatar ID information.
Subsequently a member of the friendly staff welcome us and show us to the table. Here we are asked to scan the menu onto our phone using a 3rd party app, although we are also given a physical menu. Following on from this, we order our drinks and are served warm bread rolls with butter as we make our menu selection.
Goat cheese salad to start
Our meal starts with a hearty goats cheese salad, which we especially love with beetroot and honey and mustard dressing. The soft and velvety goat cheese with beetroot is a lovely flavoursome marriage. So far, so good. Of course hubby has nabbed half the goat cheese before I get the perfect pic!!
Then we have the best beef short ribs for me
Very soon, our main course of slow cooked beef short ribs and grilled Mediterranean sea bass fillet is served. The beef short ribs are simply divine with the beef easily coming away from the bone. Of course the perfect accompaniment to the beef is buttery mash potatoes, sugar snap peas and pureed carrots. The addition of a rich gravy makes this perfect comfort food for our first foray at eating out again.
And grilled Mediterranean sea bass fillet for hubby
Of course if there is fish on the menu, hubby will order it. When it arrives,the grilled Mediterranean sea bass fillet is a visual delight cooked to perfection. The flesh is tender, moist and readily flakes, with each mouthful. Furthermore, the accompaniments of smoked mackerel and creamy mashed potatoes and leeks, makes this dish full of flavour.
The Belgian Cafe was a good choice for us to venture out to as one of the few restaurants to open since the COVID crisis. As a large restaurant it is able to cope with with social distancing, whilst giving a good dine in experience.
